Welwitchia & more
Extraordinary day in Walvis Bay, Namibia. First we “climbed” Dune 7 – the tallest dune in Africa. We didn’t make it to the top but far enough. Then off to see the 1000 year old Welwitchia plant that grows a millimeter a year. Then 4 wheeling down the Swakop dry river bed thru the “moon landscape”. The water’s only 40 meters down. Our vehicle lost one of its shocks so we transferred to another driver and vehicle to go see the Pelican Peninsula w its thousands of flamingos and fur seals. Finally an exciting vehicle descent off a high sand dune w a 30 degree angle down. Best day ever.
